It’s New Year’s Eve, folks! Out with the old and in with the new! Although, we here at ATLRetro prefer the old, so we’ve put together a swell Throwback to the 20th Century New Year’s Eve Guide, that will lead the way as you boogie on down to your final destination in 2018! We wish you a very vintage and rockin’ Happy New Year! Get revved and tune into Kool Kat Rev. Andy Hawley’s Psychobilly Freakout Radio broadcasting on Garage 71 at 8pm! Get your vintage holiday fix with an Old Fashioned Christmas in Dahlonega! And blues on down to Fat Matt’s Rib Shack as they dish out The Pork Bellys and a plate full ‘o finger lickin’ BBQ!

Tuesday, January 1

Light up New Year’s Day with the Illuminate Chinese Lantern Festival! The Star Bar delivers a night of retro shenanigans with DJ Quasi Mandisco’s Little 5 Points Dance Party featuring retro-soul, funk, ‘80s, ‘90s and more! And as always, groove on down with Swami Gone Bananas at the Northside Tavern!

Wednesday, January 2

Catch a “No Resolutions” double feature of David Lynch’s MULHOLLAND DR. (2001) and Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu’s BIRDMAN (2014) at Noni’s Bar & Deli during their Cinema Paradiso film event starting at 10pm! Make your way to the Northlake Festival Movie Tavern’s Flashback Cinema series screening of John McTiernan’s DIE HARD (1988)! Or make your way to Studio Movie Grill’s (Alpharetta/Duluth/Marietta) screening of Frank Darabont’s THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION (1994) at 7:15pm! Get folksy with Angie Aparo at Eddie’s Attic! Funk it up with the Mike Veal Band at Tin Roof Cantina! It’s a night of Honky-Tonk Karaoke with Andrea Colburn & Mud Moseley at The Star Bar! Get jazzy at the Red Light Café with The Gordon Vernick Quartet! Or make your way to the Northside Tavern for a rockin’ night of blues with the Tyler Neal Band! St. James Live! delivers their Hump Days Blues night, getting classic blues-style every Wednesday! And as always, it’s Ladies Night at Johnny’s Hideaway which plays hits from Sinatra to Madonna for a generally mature crowd.

Cineprov hilariously heads into the maddening underworld at The Plaza Theater as they riff Mario Bava’s HERCULES IN THE HAUNTED WORLD (1961) at 7pm! The “Queen of Indie Soul” Conya Doss gets down at City Winery! Folk rock it up with the Indigo Girls at Terminal West! The Fox Theatre presents the 10th Anniversary Tour of ROCK OF AGES! Get revived post-punk style with Landt, Sleep the Owls, Ballistic Rhino and Spurge at The Star Bar! Americana it up with Amanda Platt & The Honeycutters at Eddie’s Attic! Get funky with Underground Springhouse, Sunshine Slowdown and Nick Walter Will at Smith’s Olde Bar! Jam it up with Joe Gransden and his jazz jam session at Venkman’s! It’s Mai Tai Thursday at Trader Vic’s so hula on down for a night of rockin’ island tunes and some killer island cocktails! The Northside Tavern gets rockin’ with a little Chicago/Delta blues of The Breeze Kings! Get your boogie on at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, as Chickenshack featuring Eddie Tigner, delivers some honky-tonk blues! And as always, boogie down at Mary’s, as the East Atlanta venue gets funky with their weekly Disco in the Village.

Get intergalactic and catch a screening of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. THE EXTRA-TERRESTRIAL (1982) with a live accompaniment by the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra at Atlanta Symphony Hall at 8pm! Get down with Charlie Starr (Blackberry Smoke) at the Buckhead Theatre! The Stranger celebrates the music of Billy Joel at City Winery! Funk it up with the Mike Veal Band at Tin Roof Cantina! Make your way to Venkman’s for Jill Rock Jones paying tribute to Grace Jones and Mermaid Motor Lounge Acoustic Trio! The Fox Theatre presents the 10th Anniversary Tour of ROCK OF AGES! Captain Trips & The Sunstroke Serendaders bring you the tunes of the Grateful Dead at The Vista Room! Abbey Road LIVE! celebrates 50 years of the WHITE ALBUM at the Variety Playhouse! Get your Americana fix with Mark Miller and Mike Kinnebrew at Eddie’s Attic! Shimmy on down to the Red Light Café for a Bucket List Burlesque Show and PJ/Blanket Fort Party!  Get down with Kool Kat Rod Hamdallah at the Northside Tavern! Folk it up with The Skipperdees, After Jack and The Good Graces at the Red Light Café! Tribute celebrates the Allman Brothers at the Variety Playhouse! Rock out at Venkman’s with Members Only Band and Lightnin’ Ray! Get intergalactic for a second night and catch a screening of Steven Spielberg’s E.T. Every first Wednesday is the Graveyard Tavern’s Graveyard Swing Night, featuring the swingin’ jazz and boogie-woogie sounds of the Savoy Kings!
