Andy Hawley’s Psychobilly Freakout Radio broadcasting on Garage 71 at 8pm, every Monday! Get your vinyl fix at Little 5 Points Corner Tavern’s Records of Mass Destruction, every Monday! Get the blues at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack! Boogie on down to the Northside Tavern and spend an evening with Lola at her famous Monday Night Northside Jam!

Tuesday, February 4

Battle & Brew sends out their Call for Submissions for their Studio Ghibli Art Show on Feb. 11! Stomp on over to Eddie’s Attic for a night with the Henhouse Prowlers! Groove on down to Woofs Atlanta for their Retro Video Jukebox event! Jam it up with Joe Gransden and his jazz jam session at Venkman’s! Hula on down to Waller’s Coffee Shop for a Ukulele Jam! And as always, groove on down with Swami Gone Bananas at the Northside Tavern!

 

Wednesday, February 5

Emory Cinematheque continues their African-Americans in American Film Series with a screening of Daniel Petrie’s A RAISIN IN THE SUN (1961) at 7:30pm in White Hall 208! Stomp on down to Waller’s Coffee Shop for a Bluegrass Jam! Catch a screening of Vincente Minnelli’s MEET ME IN ST. LOUIS (1944) at theatres across Atlanta [Northlake Festival Movie Tavern (Tucker); GTC Merchant’s Walk Cinemas (Marietta); Movie Tavern at Horizon Village (Suwannee); and The Springs Cinema & Taphouse (Sandy Springs)! The Highlander rocks out with their Punk/Metal/New Wave Karaoke Night, every Wednesday! Get jazzy at the Red Light Café with The Gordon Vernick Quartet! Funk it up with the Mike Veal Band at Tin Roof Cantina! Or make your way to the Northside Tavern for a rockin’ night of blues with the Tyler Neal Band! And as always, it’s Ladies Night at Johnny’s Hideaway which plays hits from Sinatra to Madonna for a generally mature crowd.

Hilarity ensues as Bobcat Goldthwait and Dana Gould invade The Highland Inn Ballroom! Amanda Cole pays tribute to Whitney Houston at Suite Food Lounge! The Northside Tavern gets rockin’ with a little Chicago/Delta blues of The Breeze Kings! Get your boogie on at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, as Chickenshack delivers some honky-tonk blues! And as always, boogie down at Mary’s, as the East Atlanta venue gets funky with their weekly Disco in the Village.

Friday, February 7

Get traumatized and HORROR-fied this weekend as the Days of the Dead Convention kills it at the Sheraton Atlanta hotel for three days of ghastly gore-filled events, running through Feb 9! You won’t want to miss monstrous retro celebrity guests Ricou Browning (CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON; see our Kreaturific Kool Kat Interview with Mr. Browning here); Richard Dreyfuss (JAWS, CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THIRD KIND); Tony Todd (CANDYMAN); John Cusack (THE RAVEN, BETTER OFF DEAD); Linda Blair (THE EXORCIST); Steve Guttenberg (SHORT CIRCUIT; COCOON); Kathleen Turner (SERIAL MOM); and so many more! Catch a screening of Steven Soderbergh’s ERIN BROCKOVICH (2000) at SCADShow at 7pm! The Georgia Players Guild presents the music of CCR & Three Dog Night at The Earl Smith Strand Theatre! Cross the pond and spend the night with The Fab Four at Atlanta Symphony Hall! Shimmy on down to the Red Light Café for Pour Some Glitter on Me: A Burlesque Tribute to Classic Rock featuring Kool Kat Roula Roulette and so much more! Stomp on down to Buteco for Anna Kramer and Love Letter! Make your way to PONKO Chicken Midtown for a night with Kevn Kinney! Bluegrass it up with Greensky Bluegrass at the Tabernacle! The Coley High Players present Coltrane & Compadres at Venkman’s! Time-Warp it up at The Plaza Theater as they continue their tradition of screening THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) every Friday night, featuring the live cast of Lips Down on Dixie at midnight!

Saturday, February 8

It’s Day 2 to get spooked at the Days of the Dead Convention at the Sheraton Atlanta! Get your blood curdling fill of monsters galore with hellacious panels, the Etheria Film Fest with Stacy Pippi, celebrating the best women directed genre film; one hell-bent horrorific after party and more! Vinegar Syndrome, Videodrome, and Grindhouse Killer Burgers host the Atlanta big-screen premiere of Stewart Raffill’s TAMMY AND THE T-REX (1994) fully uncut for the first time at 9:30pm at The Plaza Theater. This event will include a pop up Vinegar Syndrome Blu-Ray and Merch Shop in the lobby that opens at 8:30pm, and an introduction to the film by Vinegar Syndrome‘s James Neurath. It’s Prohibition pandemonium at The Earl with Kool Kat Blair Crimmins & The Hookers! New-Wave it up with Kool Kat VJ Anthony during an 80s New Wave Music Video Dance Party every 2nd Saturday of the month at Amsterdam Atlanta! Bluegrass it up with Greensky Bluegrass at the Tabernacle! Nameless Nameless pays tribute to Nirvana at Smith’s Olde Bar! Every first Wednesday is the Graveyard Tavern’s Graveyard Swing Night, featuring the swingin’ jazz and boogie-woogie sounds of the Savoy Kings!
