Rev it up as Kool Kat Hot Rod Walt goes solo for the night at Smokin’ Cues in Stockbridge! Get your game on at My Parents’ Basement during the IFPA Monthly Pinball Tournament! Swing on by Big Band Night featuring Joe Gransden and his amazing 17-member orchestra at Café 290 every first and third Monday of the month! Boogie on down to the Northside Tavern and spend an evening with Lola at her famous Monday Night Northside Jam!

Tuesday, March 5

The Landmark Midtown Art Cinema gets experimental with their new Classics Series screening of Andrei Tarkovsky’s ANDREI RUBLEV (1973) at 7pm! Or catch a screening of Wim WendersWINGS OF DESIRE (1988) at 10p at The Plaza Theater! Make your way to the Fox Theatre for a night with Mariah Carey! Spend the night with the Gin Blossoms at the Buckhead Theatre! Get rocked with Queensryche at the Masquerade! It’s Fat Tuesday with The Squirrelheads at The Vista Room! Jam it up with Joe Gransden and his jazz jam session at Venkman’s! The Star Bar delivers a night of retro shenanigans with DJ Quasi Mandisco’s Little 5 Points Dance Party featuring retro-soul, funk, ‘80s, ‘90s and more! Twang on down to Blind Willies for a Mardi Gras Party featuring The Crawdaddy’s! And as always, groove on down with Swami Gone Bananas at the Northside Tavern!

Wednesday, March 6

Emory Cinematheque continues their “History of Color Films” series with a screening of Michelangelo Antonioni’s THE RED DESERT (1964) at 7:30pm! Get folksy with Richard Shindell at Eddie’s Attic! Roots rock it up with Rusted Root’s Michael Gablicki and Dirk Miller at City Winery! New Power Generation celebrates the music of Prince at the Masquerade! The Star Bar eighties it up during their ‘80s Dance Party with DJ Kahle! The Highlander rocks out with their Punk/Metal/New Wave Karaoke Night, every Wednesday! Catch a Flashback Cinema screening of Baz Luhrmann’s MOULIN ROUGE (2001) at theatres across Atlanta [Northlake Festival Movie Tavern (Tucker); GTC Merchant’s Walk Cinemas (Marietta); Movie Tavern at Horizon Village (Suwannee); and The Springs Cinema & Taphouse (Sandy Springs)]! Funk it up with the Mike Veal Band at Tin Roof Cantina! Get jazzy at the Red Light Café with The Gordon Vernick Quartet! Or make your way to the Northside Tavern for a rockin’ night of blues with the Tyler Neal Band! Blind Willies gets rockin’ the Cazanovas! And as always, it’s Ladies Night at Johnny’s Hideaway which plays hits from Sinatra to Madonna for a generally mature crowd.

Hilarity ensues as Cineprov gets intergalactic and riffs James L. Conway’s HANGAR 18 (1980) at The Plaza Theater at 7:30pm! It’s a night of desert psychedelia at The Star Bar with The Holy Knives! Get retro rocked with Forever ’78 at Venkman’s! Jazz it up with Brian Simpson at Suite Food Lounge! Get your dramatic ‘50s fix with Aurora Theatre’s presentation of MEN WITH MONEY, through April 7! Get down at Blind Willies with The Shadows! It’s Mai Tai Thursday at Trader Vic’s so funk it up with The Mar-Tans and have some killer island cocktails! The Northside Tavern gets rockin’ with a little Chicago/Delta blues of The Breeze Kings! Get your boogie on at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, as Chickenshack featuring Eddie Tigner, delivers some honky-tonk blues! And as always, boogie down at Mary’s, as the East Atlanta venue gets funky with their weekly Disco in the Village.

Friday, March 8

The Plaza Theater presents a 20th Anniversary screening of Spike Jonze’s BEING JOHN MALKOVICH (1999), through March 11! Catch a magical screening of Robert Stevenson’s classic, MARY POPPINS (1964) at 8pm at The Earl Smith Strand Theatre! Rock out with Mike Gordon (Phish) at the Variety Playhouse! Rock out with The Beths and Bad Bad Hats at The Earl! Spend the night with Sonia Leigh at Eddie’s Attic! Get rocked at The Star Bar with Favx, The Minks and Abjects! Get the blues with the Randall Bramblett Band at The Vista Room! Rock out with ‘90s-esque Stand Atlantic at the Masquerade! Get some religion and shimmy on down to the Red Light Café for Elements of the Gods, A Deity Burlesque Show!  Spend the night with the Nathan Morgan Band at the Northside Tavern! Get the blues with George Hughley & The Shadows at Blind Willies! Time-Warp it up at The Plaza Theater as they continue their tradition of screening THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) every Friday night, featuring the live cast of Lips Down on Dixie at midnight!

Saturday, March 9

Get geeky and sci-fi-fantastic with a screening of Jim Mallon’s MYSTERY SCIENCE THEATER 3000: THE MOVIE (1996) at the Center for Puppetry Arts at 8pm! Break a leg and make your way to Manuel’s Tavern for Essential Theatre’s Celebration of Georgia Playwrights! Rock on down to the Fox Theatre for Experience Hendrix! Get rocked with the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets and Frankie & The Witch Fingers at The Earl! Get psychedelic with Scott Yoder, Plastic Man and Twisty Cats at The Star Bar! Get the rockin’ blues with Big Head Todd & The Monsters at the Buckhead Theatre! Get your fill of some traditional Mexican tunes with Pancho Barraza at The Roxy! Catch an 80th Anniversary Flashback Cinema screening of Victor Fleming’s THE WIZARD OF OZ (1939) at theatres across Atlanta [Northlake Festival Movie Tavern (Tucker); GTC Merchant’s Walk Cinemas (Marietta); Movie Tavern at Horizon Village (Suwannee); and The Springs Cinema & Taphouse (Sandy Springs)]! Mudcat gets down at Blind Willies! Funk it up with Risky Biscuit at Tin Roof Cantina! Get sweet and low down blues-style at the Northside Tavern with Uncle Sugar with Eddie Tigner!

Every first and third Mondays are Big Band Nights at Café 290, featuring Joe Gransden and his amazing 16-piece orchestra playing jazz and swing standards in the tradition of The Glen Miller Orchestra and other legendary groups.  Second and fourth Mondays are Bumpin the Mango, ‘The groove that makes you want to move!’

Every first Wednesday is the Graveyard Tavern’s Graveyard Swing Night, featuring the swingin’ jazz and boogie-woogie sounds of the Savoy Kings!
