Monday, August 22

Hilarity ensues with a screening of Harold Ramis’ classic, CADDYSHACK (1980), at The Plaza Theater, through Aug. 25!8.22 Shake off the Monday blues with Blast-Off Burlesque’s Monday Night Games at the Euclid Avenue Yacht Club! Or shimmy ‘n’ shake on down to Smith’s Olde Bar for a night of burly-Q shenanigans with Electric Glitterland, a rock ‘n’ roll cabaret! Stomp on down to City Winery for a night with Heather Luttrell! Get your Elvis fix and make your way to the Alpharetta Branch Library for their screening of George Sidney’s VIVA LAS VEGAS (1964) at 10:30am! Get funky and groove on down to Café 290 every second and fourth Monday of the month for a taste of Bumpin the Mango, ‘The groove that makes you want to move!”  Skye Paige, “Queen of Slide Guitar” rocks out at the Little Vinyl Lounge! Boogie on down to the Northside Tavern and spend an evening with Lola at her famous Monday Night Northside Jam! And blues on down to Fat Matt’s Rib Shack for a side of Dry White Toast and a plate full ‘o finger lickin’ BBQ!

Tuesday, August 23

The Original Wailers dish out a night of roots reggae and invade the Masquerade! Jazz it up at the Red Light Café with The Gordon Vernick Quartet! Get the blues with Frankie’s Blues Mission at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack! Darwin’s 8.24PlazaBurgers & Blues gets down and dirty at their Blues Jam hosted by The Cazanovas! The Star Bar gets down with their Okie Dokie Karaoke, every Wednesday at 9pm! Or rock on downstairs to the Little Vinyl Lounge for a night of retro shenanigans with Kool Kat Jeff Clark and Stomp & Stammer’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Trivia at 8pm! Labretta Suede & The Motel 6, along with Tiger! Tiger! rock out at The Earl! Rock out with The Bacon Brothers at City Winery! The Atlanta Film Festival delivers a little geeky comedy with a 20th anniversary “Revenge of the Summer” series screening of Tim Burton’s MARS ATTACKS! (1996) at The Plaza Theater! Or geek it up as Dad’s Garage Theatre Company presents The Wrath of Con” Special Edition, staged reading at 8pm! Boogie down with Heather Luttrell at Blind Willie’s!  Catch a free screening of Tony Scott’s TOP GUN (1986) at Venkman’s at 8pm! It’s Mai Tai Thursday, so surf on down and get swanky with Bogey & The Viceroy at Trader Vic’s! The Cody Matlock Band delivers a night of blues at Darwin’s Burgers & Blues in Marietta! Stagger on over to Noni’s Bar & Deli for their Bitter Heroes event featuring DJ Brian Parris as he gets charmingly morose with a little New-Wave, The Smiths and The Cure! The Northside Tavern gets rockin’ with a little Chicago/Delta blues of The Breeze Kings! Get your boogie on at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, as Chickenshack featuring Eddie Tigner, delivers some honky-tonk blues! And as always, boogie down at Mary’s, as the East Atlanta venue gets funky with their weekly Disco in the Village.

Catch a screening of Robert ZemeckisFORREST GUMP (1994) at SCADShow, 7pm! Rock out with Pony League, The Midnight Larks, Newark Wilder and Pop Weirdos at The Drunken Unicorn! Bluegrass it up with the Grassland String Band at the Red Clay Theatre! Rock on down to the Red Light Café for a night with Mark Michelson! Jam on down to Smith’s Olde Bar for a night with Escape Vehicle and Dead Affect! Rock out with The Whigs and Quaildogs at Terminal West! 4PAN1TThe Fox Theatre closes out their Coca-Cola Summer Film Festival with a screening of Billy Wilder’s SOME LIKE IT HOT (1959) at 7:30pm! Rock on down to the 2016 Grant Park Summer Shade Festival for day one, featuring, Kool Kat Dave Weil and The Blacktop Rockets, Adron, Michelle Malone, The Skylarks, The Electromatics, The Brookses and more!  Old-time it up with Kool Kat Caleb Warren & The Gents at The Wing Café in Marietta! The Center for Puppetry Arts goblins it up with their Shortcut to Goblin City event, featuring a tour of the Jim Henson’s Labyrinth: Journey to Goblin City exhibit, an 8pm screening of LABYRINTH (1986) and more goblin goodies! Rock on down to 529 for Ed Schrader’s Music Beat! Make your way to The Drunken Unicorn for a rockin’ night with Shantih Shantih, the Starbenders, Black Linen and Man up, Yancey! Blues on down to Fat Matt’s Rib Shack for a side of Dry White Toast and a plate full ‘o finger lickin’ BBQ! The Steel City Jug Slammers get old-timey at the Red Light Café! Rock out with Delta Moon at Blind Willie’s! St. James Live! delivers their Tribute to the Legends night every Saturday night! And as always, DJ Romeo Cologne transforms the sensationally seedy Clermont Lounge into a ’70s disco/funk inferno late into the wee hours of the night.

Make your way to Chastain Park for a night with Rick Springfield, Night Ranger and The Romantics! TCM Big Screen Classics presents a 60th Anniversary screening of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s THE KING AND I (1956) at theatres across the Atlanta area at 2 pm and 7pm [Hollywood Stadium 24 (Chamblee), Avalon Stadium 12 (Alpharetta); AMC Sugarloaf Mills 18 (Lawrenceville); AMC Barrett Commons 24 (Kennesaw); Cinemark Tinseltown 17 (Fayetteville); Regal McDonough Stadium 16 (McDonough); and Georgian Stadium 14 (Newnan)]! The Plaza Theater Time-Warps it up as they screen, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) every Friday night, featuring the live cast of Lips Down on Dixie at midnight!

Every first and third Mondays are Big Band Nights at Café 290, featuring Joe Gransden and his amazing 16-piece orchestra playing jazz and swing standards in the tradition of The Glen Miller Orchestra and other legendary groups.  Second and fourth Mondays are Bumpin the Mango, ‘The groove that makes you want to move!’

Every first Wednesday is the Graveyard Tavern’s Graveyard Swing Night, featuring the swingin’ jazz and boogie-woogie sounds of the Savoy Kings!
