Spend the morning with Katharine Hepburn at the Alpharetta Branch Library with a screening of George Stevens7.11WOMAN OF THE YEAR (1942) at 10:30am! Or make your way to the Toco-Hill Avis G. Williams Library in Decatur as they kick off a STAR WARS movie marathon with George LucasEPISODE I: THE PHANTOM MENACE (1999) at 12:30pm! Rock out in the underground with The Mystery Lights at 529! Catch a screening of Michael Cimino’s classic, THE DEER HUNTER (1978) at The Plaza Theater, screening through July 14! Get funky and groove on down to Café 290 every second and fourth Monday of the month for a taste of Bumpin the Mango, ‘The groove that makes you want to move!” Skye Paige, “Queen of Slide Guitar” rocks out at the Little Vinyl Lounge! Boogie on down to the Northside Tavern and spend an evening with Lola at her famous Monday Night Northside Jam!

7.12RLCThe Landmark Midtown Art Cinema gets weird and kicks off its Cinema Classics Gangster Series with David Lynch’s weirdly wicked BLUE VELVET (1986) at 7pm! Let Kool Kat Katherine Lashe and the burly-Q gals of Syrens of the South spice up your evening with their Tease Tuesday Burlesque: Patriot Acts, shakin’ it up at the Red Light Café! The Star Bar delivers a night of retro shenanigans with their Downtown Tuesday Night Dance Party featuring retro-soul, funk, ‘80s, ‘90s and more! Geek it up the MST3K Reunion Show at theatres across Atlanta at 8pm [Avalon Stadium 12 (Alpharetta); Perimeter Pointe 10; Hollywood Stadium 24 (Chamblee); AMC Barrett Commons 24 (Kennesaw); AMC Sugarloaf Mills 18 (Lawrenceville); Regal McDonough Stadium 16 (McDonough); Georgian Stadium 14 (Newnan)]! Or make your way to the Toco-Hill Avis G. Williams Library in Decatur for a screening of George LucasSTAR WARS: A NEW HOPE (1977) at 4pm! Jazz it up at the Red Light Café, with The Gordon Vernick Quartet! Catch a screening of Wes Anderson’s first feature7.13 film, BOTTLE ROCKET (1996) at The Plaza Theater at 7:30pm! May the force be with you at the Toco-Hill Avis G. Williams Library as they continue their STAR WARS movie marathon with EPISODE V: EMPIRE STRIKES BACK (1980) at 11:30am and EPISODE VI: RETURN OF THE JEDI (1983) at 2:15pm! The Star Bar gets to twangin’ with their Cowboy Karaoke event, featuring live-band old-time country and western tunes with Dry Gulch! Or rock on downstairs to the Little Vinyl Lounge for a night of retro shenanigans with Kool Kat Jeff Clark and Stomp & Stammer’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Trivia at 8pm! Or make your way to the Northside Tavern as Danny ‘Mudcat’ Dudeck fires it up with his rockin’ blues! St. James Live! delivers their Hump Days Blues night, getting classic blues-style every Wednesday! And as always, it’s Ladies Night at Johnny’s Hideaway which plays hits from Sinatra to Madonna for a generally mature crowd.

Shimmy down as Sadie Hawkins presents the burlesque improve showdown, Last Pasties Standing: Awkward Relationships at the Red Light Café, and stick around for DJ Doctor Q’s Atlanta Speakeasy Electro Swing! Cajun it up with Rod Melancon at Smith’s Olde Bar! Make your way to Eddie’s Attic for a night with Kip Winger! Catch a screening of Blake EdwardsBREAKFAST AT TIFFANY’S (1961) at Atlantic Station’s Movies in Central Park series at 8pm. It’s Mai Tai Thursday, so surf on down to Trader Vic’s for a helluva beach party with Kool Kat Joshua Longino and The Disapyramids! Rock out at The Star Bar with the Zoners, The Harlequins and A Drug Called Tradition. Or get Rhythm & Soul in the Little Vinyl Lounge! Stagger on over to Noni’s Bar & Deli for their Bitter Heroes event featuring DJ Brian Parris as he gets charmingly morose with a little New-Wave, The Smiths and The Cure! The Northside Tavern gets rockin’ with a little Chicago/Delta blues of The Breeze Kings! The Cody Matlock Band delivers a night of blues at Darwin’s Burgers & Blues in Marietta! Get your boogie on at Fat Matt’s Rib Shack, as Chickenshack featuring Eddie Tigner, delivers some honky-tonk blues! And as always, boogie down at Mary’s, as the East Atlanta venue gets funky with their weekly Disco in the Village.

Friday, July 15

Gore it up in Griffin during Sinister Suites Haunted Hotel’s cult horror classic two-day deadly double feature! Tonight’s7.15StarBar bloody screenings include Tim Burton’s SWEENEY TODD (2007) and Todd Browning’s FREAKS (1932)! Rock out with Night Terrors, We Want Blood, Spray Tan and The Breaks at The Star Bar! Hey all you Rude Boys and Girls! Make your way to Venkman’s for a night with Lloyd’s Rocksteady Revue as they perform the soundtrack from Perry Henzell’s 1972 classic, THE HARDER THEY COME! Gore it up with a screening of Lucio Fulci’s CAT IN THE BRAIN (1990) at The Plaza Theater! Surf on down to The Painted Pin for a night of rockin’ tunes with Kool Kat Joshua Longino and The Disapyramids and bowling! Rock out with Drivin’ ‘n’ Cryin’ at Smith’s Olde Bar! It’s Salsa Dance Night at the Fernbank Museum of Natural History’s Martinis and IMAX event, so cha-cha under the dinosaurs with the Salsambo Dance Studio while sippin’ a few cocktails! Get horrorfied as Kool Kats The Casket Creatures rock out at Sweetwater Bar & Grille in Duluth! Boogie on down to Club Famous for Kool Kat VJ Anthony’s Depeche Mode: 80s New Wave Music Video Dance Party! Eddie’s Attic dishes out a night of folk ‘n’ soul with Book of Colors and Kool Kat Ruby Velle! Boogie down to The Star Bar for Shellie & Andrew’s Rock ‘n’ Roll Wedding Show, featuring Kool Kat Joshua Longino and The Disapyramids, Dusty Booze & the Baby Haters, Kitty Capone, Roxie Roz Burlesque and more! Make your way to the Landmark Midtown Art Cinema for their Studio Ghibli series, featuring a screening of Hayao Miyazaki’s NAUSICAA OF THE VALLEY OF WIND (1984) at 1pm! Make your way to Park Tavern for the 8th Annual Killer Tomato Festival featuring live music by The Spazmatics! And get sweet and low down blues-style at the Northside Tavern with Uncle Sugar!

The Michael C. Carlos Museum presents their “Doorway to an Enlightened World” exhibit, running through Nov. 27!

The Plaza Theater Time-Warps it up as they screen, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW (1975) every Friday night, featuring the live cast of Lips Down on Dixie at midnight!

Every first and third Mondays are Big Band Nights at Café 290, featuring Joe Gransden and his amazing 16-piece orchestra playing jazz and swing standards in the tradition of The Glen Miller Orchestra and other legendary groups.  Second and fourth Mondays are Bumpin the Mango, ‘The groove that makes you want to move!’

Every first Wednesday is the Graveyard Tavern’s Graveyard Swing Night, featuring the swingin’ jazz and boogie-woogie sounds of the Savoy Kings!
